Who we are

A modern financial house

New capital, and new minds at the helm, require new ideas and approaches.

The Firm

MELKIL was built on the simple, but consequential principle that the firms shepherding the largest wealth transfer in human history weren't built for the people inheriting that capital today. New capital, and new minds at the helm, require new ideas and approaches and guidance.

MELKIL was built to fill this gap in research-backed, structurally independent, culturally fluent, peer-level financial services. Given this interdisciplinary approach, the firm is structured in a multi-pillared, "house" structure that promotes synergies across the house's various endeavors. At their core the pillars are rooted in the firm's founding mission: to provide actionable investment strategies built on research-backed, data-driven, and independent counsel that lead to positive outcomes for our partners and clients.

The Founder

Luis Rivera-Nesrala

Luis Rivera-Nesrala, Founder of MELKIL

From the age of 22, Luis has been an active participant in the rooms where institutional capital decisions that leave generational legacies are made.

He started at an established UHNW multi-family office in New York. His team's mandate: build the firm's book of business in the MENA region. They excelled and quickly grew the new book to figures matching the firm's established book of business. Those initial years on the buy side, working across global public and private asset classes, taught Luis how institutional capital actually moves when you strip away the marketing language most financial institutions sell. Luis has continued managing private capital portfolios ever since.

After achieving that mandate, Luis moved into growth consulting for global companies with market caps from seven to nine figures. The mandate: develop and implement tailor-made, data-driven playbooks for scalable, replicable growth. On the client side, he worked directly with C-suite leadership (CEOs, CMOs, CTOs, CFOs) to curate and execute strategic initiatives. Internally, he managed teams of 15-20 across seven functions, translating board-level strategy into on-the-ground execution.

In 2024, Luis took a sabbatical to accept a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship for advanced Arabic studies at the Center for Arabic Studies Abroad in Amman, Jordan.

MELKIL was born shortly after.

Luis lives in Brooklyn and is a native Puerto Rican.

He speaks Spanish, English, French, and Arabic. BA Economics, NYU 2017 (honors).
