From the age of 22, Luis has been an active participant in the rooms where institutional capital decisions that leave generational legacies are made.
He started at an established UHNW multi-family office in New York. His team's mandate: build the firm's book of business in the MENA region. They excelled and quickly grew the new book to figures matching the firm's established book of business. Those initial years on the buy side, working across global public and private asset classes, taught Luis how institutional capital actually moves when you strip away the marketing language most financial institutions sell. Luis has continued managing private capital portfolios ever since.
After achieving that mandate, Luis moved into growth consulting for global companies with market caps from seven to nine figures. The mandate: develop and implement tailor-made, data-driven playbooks for scalable, replicable growth. On the client side, he worked directly with C-suite leadership (CEOs, CMOs, CTOs, CFOs) to curate and execute strategic initiatives. Internally, he managed teams of 15-20 across seven functions, translating board-level strategy into on-the-ground execution.
In 2024, Luis took a sabbatical to accept a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship for advanced Arabic studies at the Center for Arabic Studies Abroad in Amman, Jordan.
MELKIL was born shortly after.
Luis lives in Brooklyn and is a native Puerto Rican.
He speaks Spanish, English, French, and Arabic. BA Economics, NYU 2017 (honors).
